watercolor in process

I did the drawing some time ago.  A local pianist is posing on her piano.
Water color in process.  I misplaced the newspaper photo from which I did the original
drawing -- so making up some of it --I am using some colors from a WInslow Homer painting.

I have a larger version in oil in mind, so this might be a preliminary.

Three colors -raw umber, burnt umber and lamp black and 1 brush so far (Grumbacher 8) need to darken up a few places.  Almost there.

I'm not keeping the cold and damp feel of the original (no wonder he spent a good deal of time painting outdoors).

Sketching for a Watercolor

This photo of Childe Hassam
in his ---- studio about 1885 has fascinated me for the past year.  I've done several acrylic studies and am sketching it out 3x larger for a watercolor study. I want to practic with five grades of one or two colors (umbers)
