Moving along

Stan wants a large painting for his wall with a racehorse featured.  Working on the drawing.
Will do a practice in acrylic on a gesso-ed birch plywood panel.  The panel is 2 ft x 4 feet
but is warped a bit so I'll use half and if any good will trim the panel.

Getting there   12 x 20  watercolor - this is essentially a practice version with several problems. I only used one brush - a #8 as I didn't want to fiddle with details.  Will do a larger version and hopefully resolve the problems.

I did the drawing some time ago.  A local pianist is posing on her piano.
Water color in process.  I misplaced the newspaper photo from which I did the original
drawing -- so making up some of it --I am using some colors from a WInslow Homer painting.

I have a larger version in oil in mind, so this might be a preliminary.

16 x 22 on 140 lb sheet of 22 x 30  Burnt umber, raw umber, lamp black and a #8 brush

Three colors -raw umber, burnt umber and lamp black and 1 brush so far (Grumbacher 8) need to darken up a few places.  Almost there.

I'm not keeping the cold and damp feel of the original (no wonder he spent a good deal of time painting outdoors).
